‘My Kitchen Rules’ 2016: Rosie and Paige’s delicious meal overshadowed by Lauren and Monique fight
It was SA couple Rosie and Paige’s turn at “My Kitchen Rules” 2016 to prove their cooking mastery and they chose to wow with a three-course Middle Eastern-inspired menu. Their entree of spiced lamb filo rolls was simply delicious and won a nine and eight from judges Pete Evans and Manu Feildel.
The two prepared chicken shawarma and hummus with flatbread for the main, which scored seven and eight from judges. The dessert of orange and almond syrup cake received two eights from Pete and Manu. Their second instant restaurant attempt gave them 79 out of 110 points, although most of the other contestants were pretty harsh with their scores.
QLD couple Alex and Gareth were honest with their scores and gave a perfect score of 10. They said they couldn’t find any fault with the menu. Hazel and Lisa, also from QLD, who are in second-last place, gave just three points. WA’s Nev and Kell, at the top of the leader board, were also harsh with their score of five.
However, with 79 points, Rosie and Paige knocked off the Perth couple and are now at the top. Only Lauren and Carmine are left before the double elimination. They will be cooking this Sunday.
The main focus for last night’s episode was the clash between Adelaide nutrition student Lauren and Sydney cop Monique. Their verbal debate was a spill-over from Mackay miners Alex and Gareth’s instant restaurant episode on Tuesday. Tension was high and it quickly spiralled into a disastrous and embarrassing verbal fight.
The fight started when Lauren again brought up the topic of strategic scoring. Monique thought it was directed at her, which spilled over. While Monique said Lauren was sitting across and giving her daggers, Lauren accused Monique of playing games. Soon Monique demanded Lauren to stop pointing her fingers at her while Lauren beamed Monique was no one to give her orders. During their fiery exchange, everybody seemed uncomfortable and embarrassed.
My Kitchen Rules continues Sunday night at 7.30pm on Seven.
