Queenslanders JP and Nelly and Alex and Gareth served horrible entrees and mains on Wednesday’s episode of “My Kitchen Rules” 2016, but managed to impress the irritated and angry judges with their desserts. However, one team had to end their journey and JP and Nelly were shown the door. Alex and Gareth lived to cook another day. One thing was clear. Now that the competition has reached exciting levels, there is little room for silly mistakes.

After the episode ended, many “My Kitchen Rules” fans wanted the formerly eliminated Italians Luciano and Martino back, stating, at least they were far better than JP and Nelly.

“Love the miners but the Italianos were better than both tonight's teams,” one tweet read.

Another tweet went on the same lines. The fan questioned the quality of the teams left and wanted the Italians back.

“Can we bring back the Italians?....all of their dishes were better than any of the dishes tonight,” another “My Kitchen Rules” 2016 fan posted.

“The fact that JP and Nelly and Alex and Garreth outlasted the #Italians is an absolute CRIME @mykitchenrules #mkr,” a fan expressed.

Those who saw “My Kitchen Rules” 2016’s Wednesday episode would know why fans were so desperate to bring back the Italians. It was simply because the Italians were far better cooks and were eliminated after a tough fight. They fell only four points short of Zana and Gianni. But Wednesday’s episode was such a disaster, that judge Colin Fassnidge threatened to never come back to the show. Both the teams produced horrible entrees and mains that were almost impossible to eat.

“This is a competition. They’ve made a cracker. Well done. Sliced some fish. What were they doing for all that time?” said Fassnidge, commenting on miners Alex and Gareth’s simple entree of salmon sashimi with avocado puree and rice crackers.

JP and Nelly’s entree, Polish borscht, a beetroot soup, was equally revolting.

“Give me a soup that’s going to knock me down. This is not knocking me down. There’s a little bit of texture in the bread. There’s the yoghurt which is giving it a bit of acidity. But it’s not memorable,” Fassnidge said.

Things got worse when the participants produced their mains. Alex and Gareth’s main of eye fillet with butter bean mash and red wine jus was ruined because of silly mistakes they committed. JP and Nelly’s roast duck maryland with potato and leek mash and red wine jus was criticised equally.

“I mightn’t even come back, I’m that angry,” said Fassnidge, totally frustrated.

Thankfully, both teams served amazing desserts to cool down the judges, especially Fassnidge. Alex and Gareth’s chocolate mousse dome with cherry sorbet and JP and Nelly’s white chocolate mascarpone tart with caramelised figs were highly praised.

JP and Nelly were given a total score of 27 out of 60 whereas Alex and Gareth, 29 out of 60. Unfortunately, the episode was a “sudden death” one. Hence JP and Nelly had to leave.

“My Kitchen Rules” continues Monday night at 7.30pm on Seven.
