Ryan Gosling broke a lot of hearts, men and women alike, after choosing not to show up at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards at Beverly Hills, California last January 15. What was the "Drive" actor so busy with that he couldn't bother to show up?

Thank god it wasn't a date with his girlfriend Eva Mendez because a lot of fans would not be so happy to hear he skipped out of the Golden Globes just to be with Eva. The real reason why Gosling was absent from the Golden Globes was because he was out of the country.

Again it's not a date with Eva Mendez but instead the hunky actor was busy "working out of the country" as stated by Goslings' publicist to People Magazine. The actor was and is still currently busy filming his next action flick "Only God Forgives," a mixed martial arts movie directed by "Drive" director Nicolas Winding Refn.

Well, it's a fairly acceptable reason but it wasn't good enough for dedicated and addicted fans of Gosling. Fans took the absence to the extreme by ranting on social networking sites. A few even tweeted and demanded to know where the heartthrob was.

If the whole internet was upset about his no-show at the Golden Globes, his fellow co-star in the film "Ides of March" George Clooney found it funny instead and even decided to poke a little humor into it.

"He's working, I think, in Thailand. He wrote me a nice letter, an e-mail, this morning," shares Clooney. "You know, he's gotta work, he's gotta earn a living, he's a struggling actor."

Despite the absence of Gosling at the Golden Globes, a few equally attractive men made it to the awards night of which include Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Ewan McGregor and Leonardo DiCaprio. The young and brooding actor of "War Horse" Jeremy Irvine also made it to the red carpet of the Golden Globes.

However for the Ryan Gosling fan club, the Golden Globes is certainly not worth celebrating if the "Crazy Stupid Love" actor wasn't present.
