On Day 3 of the 2014 Australian Open, four seeded players got the boot after losing their second round match-ups to separate opponents. The number of seeded player ousted is now upped to six after two got eliminated on opening round.

Gone from competition are 14th seed Mikhail Youzhny of Russia; 23rd seed Ernests Gulbis of Latvia; 30th seed Dmitry Tursunov of Russia; and 32nd seed Ivan Dodig of Croatia.

The other half who made the second round play Thurday, January 16 with elite players Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer all playing.
