Natalie Portman Back to Work After Giving Birth, To Star in 'Jupiter Ascending'
After practically disappearing from Hollywood after her Oscar winning role in the film "Black Swan," Natalie Portman is back in business.
With no baby bump in sight, what has the award winning actress have in mind for a come-back film? The answer is she'll be taking the lead role in the Wachowski siblings' film, "Jupiter Ascending".
However, are the claims even true and what has Natalie Portman have to say in all this? According to a post by the LA Times, Portman was seriously thinking of taking the part.
It would be much of a surprise seeing that this would be the first science fiction film the actress has expressed genuine interest in. Her first sci-fi film she could have been in was "Gravity" by Alfonso Cuaron. Right after Portman dropped out of the role, director Cuaron wound up the part for actress Sandra Bullock instead.
Andy and Lana Wachowski are currently wrapping up their film "Cloud Atlas" of which includes Hollywood actors Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Sturgess and Hugo Weaving. The production for the science fiction film, "Jupiter," of which Portman would be a part of will begin until next fall.
"Jupiter Ascending" may not be the only project Portman is planning on. Word has been passed on that the actress is planning to make a documentary out of Jonathan Safran Foer's food manifesto entitled "Eating Animals". It is said that because of reading the book, Natalie decided to become Vegan.
The Oscar winner proves she still has a bang for her buck, with or without a baby bump. In 2007, the actress managed to establish her own production company, the Handsomecharlie Films. Apart from being behind the much awaited and quite delayed film, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", Portman also backed up the film "Hesher" of which starred the lovable and charming Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The beginning of 2012 may be an Oscar-less start for Portman despite having a few films out before her pregnancy hiatus such as "Thor", "No Strings Attached" and "Your Highness." This, however, proves not to be a bump in the road for this actress' success.
With a few projects already in line this January, it won't come as a surprise if she manages to get another hard-hitting film and an Oscar by the end of the year.
