Natalie Portman praised by Julia Roberts for 'Black Swan' turn
Hollywood actress Julia Roberts just jump the bandwagon for Natalie Portman's campaign for an Oscar win for her turn in Black Swan. Roberts was all praises for Portman in an article she wrote for Variety about the Darren Aronofsky film.
"Natalie Portman... is always lovely, always watchable, always interesting. Then there is Black Swan. If only I could reach out from the page now and offer you a glass of terribly good wine and ask you to sit a while," wrote Roberts, who won an Oscar for Erin Brockovich.
Natalie Portman stars in the film as Nina Seyers, the lead ballerina in New York City production of Swan Lake. Portman gained early Oscar buzz with rave reviews from critics. She trained for six months before filming began and underwent chereography training for the role as ballerina.
"Natalie Portman in the new film by Darren Aronofsky is a ballerina. I cannot think of anything more accurate and complimentary to say about her in this role: She is a ballerina! One is so lost in the aching beauty, the elegant moves and the quiet mania of her pursuits, she, Natalie, ceases to exist," continues Roberts.
"It is an intense and at times brutal film to watch. There were times when I was watching through tiny cracks in my quaking fingers. But to see [Natalie] in this role was worth the one night of tossing and turning."
Natalie Portman has three movie projects for next year, No Strings Attached, Your Highness and the superhero movie Thor. Black Swan will have a limited release in select cities in the United States and Canada this week on December 3. It will also be released in the United Kingdom in February next year.
