NBA 2K18 Player Ratings that we know so far
"NBA 2K18," the next instalment in 2K Sports' popular NBA video game series, will be released on Sept. 15. In the lead-up to the game's launch, 2K Sports has begun the annual exercise of revealing Player Ratings via social media.
Kyrie Irving, the cover athlete of "NBA 2K18," has received a Player Rating of 90 overall. The Cleveland Cavaliers star has vowed to improve his rating to 93 overall before the end of the season. "As the cover athlete, I thought I should be at least a 95. This rating (of 90 overall) is good because I am motivated now. And mark my words, I will be at least a 93 before the end of the season," said Irving, via Instagram (see below).
On Monday, Team2K shot began filming a commercial spot for "NBA 2K18." 2K's Instagram and Twitter pages went behind-the-scenes to capture footage from player overall rating predictions, reveals and reactions.
In the process, they revealed the Player Ratings of the following:
- Karl-Anthony Towns (91 overall)
- Paul George (91 overall)
- Kyrie Irving (90 overall)
- Isaiah Thomas (89 overall)
- DeMar DeRozan (89 overall)
- Damian Lillard (89 overall)
- Joel Embiid (86 overall)
- Devin Booker (86 overall)
NBA 2K18 Player Ratings: Joel Embiid unhappy with 86 rating
As expected, Embiid, who made a sensational debut for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, was perturbed by his Player Rating of 86 overall. "I am a big man who can do it all. When I was on the court last year, I was the best defender in the league. I can shoot, I can post up and I can make plays; I can do it all. I'll be honest, I should be at least a 95 overall. A rating of 86 seems too low. I am definitely going to bump that rating to 95 during the season," said Embiid, via his Instagram.
Geroge, the cover athlete of "NBA 2K17," was evidently satisfied with his Player Rating of 91 overall. "I am going to be honest; I should be a 92 or 93 overall. I went toe-to-toe with LeBron James last year, he will probably be a 97 or 98; I am happy with 92 or 93," said George, who was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder this offseason. George and reigning league MVP Russell Westbrook would make the Thunder an explosive team.
NBA 2K18 release date
"NBA 2K18" will be available for pre-order customers on Sept. 15. It will hit the stores on Sept. 19. Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal will be the cover athlete of the Legend Edition. For the first time ever, "NBA 2K18" will be playable on the Nintendo Switch, besides PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows.
