NBA Betting Odds and Trends: Friday Picks, Featuring a Stinkfest in Charlotte and a Surprise in Toronto
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Charlotte Bobcats, Miami Heat vs. Toronto Raptors
NBA prediction win-loss record climbed to 7-3 (70 per cent) after Wednesday’s 4-1 card. NBA games—spread and over-under totals—are tough to call but basketball viewing is more fun if you have a wager or two riding it. On to the picks and predictions for Friday when we have 13 NBA games on tap:
Betting Lines: Milwaukee Bucks (+5) vs. Charlotte Bobcats (O/U: 181.5)
Game time: 10:00 am AEDT
Pick: Under 181.5
Leaning Bobcats in this match-up but decided to avoid betting the spread altogether. The score total though looks low… and that is enough for us to bet on under-181.5. Why not? The Bobcats are dead last in the league in scoring with 88.4 PPG, while the Bucks are not too far behind at 89.9 PPG for 28th! Stinkfest! Some proof: Charlotte beat Milwaukee, 96-72, in their first meeting in the 2013-14 season.
Bucks vs. Bobcats Over/Under Trends
- Under is 6-0-1 in the Bobcats’ last 7 games after a one-day rest
- Under is 8-0-1 in the Bobcats’ last 9 games
- Under is 4-0-1 in the Bobcats’ last 5 games at home
- Under is 5-2-2 in the Bucks’ last 9 games vs. Southeast division teams
Betting Lines: Miami Heat (-5.5) vs. Toronto Raptors (O/U: 196.5)
Game time: 10:00 am AEDT
Pick: Toronto ATS
In the first meeting this season, Miami defeated Toronto, 104-95, to easily cover the spread. This was a surprise because of two things; this happened in Canada and the Heat were playing without Chris Bosh at that time. Clearly, it was a lost opportunity for the Raps which could have at least hit ATS … No worries Raps fans, that’s not happening two games in a row.
The Raps have been playing the past four games or so. Although they went just 2-2 in these games, those two losses came in overtime (against Portland Trailblazers) and with a 2-point loss (against the Brooklyn Nets).
LeBron James dropped 35 points in the first meeting. Look for Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan to play better defense against the league’s best player. Also, Gay scored just 13 points (missing 7-of-10 field goals), so he’s looking forward to game number two against the defending champions.
Miami Heat Trends
- Heat are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games
- Heat are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. East teams
- Heat are 25-10 ATS in their last 35 games on the road
Toronto Raptors Trends
- Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after a loss
- Raptors 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. Southeast division teams
- Raptors are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games at home
