A hot-shooting San Antonio Spurs gave the Miami Heat its first postseason loss with a convincing 111-to-92 victory in Game 3 to grab the 2-1 series lead in the 2014 NBA Finals. Kawhi Leonard delivered his best game as a pro finishing with 29 points missing just 3-of-13 shots—practically setting the tone for game as his team runaway with the blowout win on the road.

After losing one game in San Antonio, the Spurs have retaken the homecourt advantage in this best-of-seven series.

Still, it’s not a safe lead against the back-to-back champions. Last year, the Spurs also took Game 3 via a blowout and a 2-1 lead but lost the series in seven games. Spurs head coach Greg Popovich knows about the past but would rather look forward to what they should do next.

"I don't think about last year at all at this point," said Popovich via the league’s official website. "I don't think about last year Game 3, Game 4, at all. This is a different animal and I'm just concerned about the game tomorrow night."

Pop’s crew shot 38-of-64 per cent from the field, including 19-of-21 FG to start the game and 75.9 per cent in the first half— an NBA Finals record.

Four other players finished in double-figure scoring for the Spurs. Danny Green and Tony Parker had 15 points apiece, Tim Duncan had 14 and Manu Ginobili came off the bench with 11 markers.

The Heat shot over 50 per cent too so it was indeed the lackluster defense of the Heat that did them in last Tuesday.

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade had 22 points each and shot 9-of-14 and 8-of-12 field goals, respectively but had little help elsewhere. Chris Bosh had only 9 points, Mario Chalmers missed all of his five shots and Ray Allen had 11 on 3-of-8 shooting.
