Center Andrew Bynum has multiple suitors while shooting guard J.R. Smith has apparently drawing near-zero interest from around the league.

According to a tweet by ESPN writer Chris Broussard, at least eight teams are showing interest in signing the seven-footer, who was recently traded to Chicago Bulls and was immediately waived.

I'm told 8 teams are interested in signing A Bynum, most notably Heat & Clips. Playing time, contender status & $ all factors in decision.

Bynum becomes an unrestricted free agent—meaning, any team can sign him—after he clears waivers, which is expected to happen since no one will want to pay his big contract. Conversely, it appears that no one is or will be interested in the 6-foot-5 Smith, who is known for his volatile personality on and off the court. Smith is on the first year of a three-year deal worth roughly $18 million. According to Marc Stein also of ESPN via Twitter:

Bynum was suspended by the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in the season for conduct detrimental to the team. He saw limited time on the court playing just 24 games, averaging just over 20 minutes per game for the Cavs.

However, Bynum is a very serviceable center if and when motivated—which is a big if at this point of his career. Bynum has averages of 11.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 rebounds in eight seasons in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat are the mentioned teams interested in signing Bynum.

Meanwhile, Smith logged in 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 29 games for the Knicks this season. Although a good option as a sixth man, Smith’s attitude and near-toxic contract will most likely turn off other teams to become the Knicks’ trade partners.
