To get to the NBA postseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves not only need to rack up consecutive wins to gain ground on the teams above them but they also need other teams to start losing. One of those squads are the Dallas Mavericks, which are not doing the T’Wolves a favor after winning three straight to stay in the playoff picture.

Dallas hosts Minnesota on Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas for the fourth and final meeting of these teams in the regular season.

Minnesota (33-32) is 5-3 in its last 8 games but that’s not enough to make a dent on the status of the Phoenix Suns (38-29) at 9th place; Memphis Grizzlies (39-27) at 8th place; and the Mavericks (41-27) at 7th place.

Dallas' win streak came against the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Boston Celtics.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs in the 94-89 victory versus Boston with 19 points. Four others scored in double-figures including Brandan Wright (10 points) and Devin Harris (12 points) both of whom came off the bench.

The Timberwolves are coming off a 104-102 win over the lowly Sacramento Kings. Kevin Martin scored 31 points against his former team while Kevin Love added 26 points 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
