Rajon Rondo could make his return from an ACL injury very soon after reports that the Boston Celtics point guard has already participated in first days of practice.

Reports noted Rondo could suit up for the Celtics this December as the All-Star floor general continued his improvement in his rehabilitation from a major surgery earlier this year.

NBA Writer A. Sharrod Blakely indicated Rondo hasn't participated in 5-on-5 scrimmages, though he has already spent several weeks doing contact drills, including playing one-on-one basketball against his teammates during pre-game warm-ups.

"Celtics practice coming to a close. One of the louder voices we heard? Yup. That dude!," Sharrod reported.

Cleared For Practice

NBA Insider Gary Washburn said Rondo was apparently cleared by physicians to participate in scrimmages, though the ball is on his court with regard to the timetable of his return.

"A league source says when Rajon Rondo returns to practice is his decision. sounds like he's been cleared Celtics," Washburn said.

First-year Celtics Coach Brad Stevens confirmed that Rondo already engaged in some advanced drills and practices. He also provided information about the progress of Kevin Olynyk and Courtney Lee from their respective injuries.

"Stevens: Rajon did "some practice." Lee practiced fully. Olynyk, who has a "significant" sprain of ankle, did not practice #celtics," Washburn reported.

No Rush For Rondo

Rondo stressed he won't rush his return from injury, making his sure that he's physically and mentally fit to get back in action.

Sporting News NBA Writer DeAntae Prince provided a good point in holding up Rondo's comeback until he reaches a tip-top shape.

"One point worth noting is that there is no rush for Rondo to return. The Celtics are 7-12 this season, and while they have gone on small streaks, there is no indication that Boston will compete this season."

Rondo has been rumored to be traded this season, but Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge seems to apply a wait-and-see approach in the situation.
