NBA News: LA Clippers' Chris Paul injures left index finger in China
Chris Paul has fractured his left index finger during one of the Los Angeles Clippers’ practices in China where they are scheduled to play an NBA preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets.
RealGM.com reports that the injury to the finger is not serious and the Clippers starting point guard will be re-evaluated before the second game against the Hornets on Wednesday.
Charlotte won the first game, 106-94 on Sunday. Paul has played in the Clippers' first two preseason games in 2015. They are 1-1 so far in the preseason with a 103-96 win versus the Denver Nuggets and a 93-73 loss to the Toronto Raptors. As expected, Paul has played in limited minutes in both games. He logged in for 22 minutes against the Nuggets and had 12 points and 9 assists and for 24 minutes against the Raptors and finished with 7 points and 8 assists.
The 30-year-old Paul is considered the best player in the Clippers’ roster and will be entering his 11th NBA Season. Last season, he averaged 19.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, league-leading 10.2 assists and 1.9 steals (fifth in the NBA) per game in the regular season. In the postseason, he upped his scoring to 22.2 points per game and added 4.4 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
After the NBA games in China, the Clippers will return to the United States to finish their preseason schedule, against the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 20 and the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 22. Los Angeles opens the season on Oct. 28 against the Sacramento Kings.
