New Orleans Pelicans shooter Ryan Anderson will be sidelined for at least two months because of a herniated disc he suffered on Jan 3, a source close to situation reported on Tuesday.

Anderson, who averaged 19.8 points and 6.5 rebounds this season, said he might need to take a two-month rest before having another MRI to evaluate the improvement of the injury in his neck.

"Anderson said he plans to rest for the next two months before having an MRI to check to see how the C-5 and C-6 in his neck are healing," via Real GM.

Anderson's injury proved to be a big blow to the Pelicans' playoff hopes after retooling their lineup for this season. The sweet shooting big man has been an integral part of the team success for the past two seasons, and his absence will surely leave a big loophole in their lineup.

The former Most Improved Player of the Year said he will make a decision whether to undergo surgery or not, after his neck completely heals.

"Depending on how the healing goes, I will either get surgery if it's not healing properly," Anderson said. "Or if my body does the job -- I hope it does, which the doctors say there's a good chance it will -- then I'll get back to doing normal routine exercises and back on the court," Anderson said via Real GM.
