NBA News: New York Knicks, Carmelo Anthony Agree Not To Discuss Contract Extension During Season
Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks have entered into an agreement not to discuss any details about the basketball star's upcoming free agency during the 2013-14 season, Marc Berman of the New York Post reported on Wednesday.
Anthony, who's set to become a free agent after this season, has been talking about his upcoming free agency all season long, prompting the Knicks front office to address the situation.
"Carmelo and I, the first day of training camp, we both agreed we wouldn't have any more conversations about his ability to opt out or us negotiating an extension. I'll stick to what I had agreed to and not talk about his contract status,'' said Mills, who was reportedly hired to ensure Anthony will stay put with the Knicks.
Anthony scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Knicks to a 90-83 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday's season-opener.
