Oklahoma City’s training camp is days away, and the Thunder still have no good news on the return of their star point guard Russell Westbrook who suffered an injury in the 2013 post-season. However, Westbrook himself is very confident that he’ll be an even better player when he returns.

Despite coming from a major injury and surgery, it appears the swagger has never left Westbrook.

“Every season I try to come back and be a better player,” Westbrook said. “This season should be no different. I should try to come back and be a better player, better teammate and come back and try to win,” assured the 3-time NBA All-Star to the The Oklahoman. “I'm going to come back and be better.”

“I'll always have confidence,” he said. “I never lose confidence in myself or my ability to do whatever. The organization has been doing a great job of helping me through the rehab process so I'm confident and I'll be confident enough in my leg to do whatever I need to do.”

Westbrook was injured on April 24, 2013 in a playoff game vs. the Houston Rockets in an apparent dirty play by Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley.

Westbrook missed the rest of the series, but the Thunder still managed to beat the Rockets in six games. The Thunder was ousted in the next round by the by the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference semifinals.

Westbrook has averages of 19.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game in his 5-year NBA career.

Westbrook is also part of the USA National Team which won gold medals in 2012 London Olympics and 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.
