NBA News: Toronto Raptors to Evaluate Players Before Making Big Trades
Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri said he's going to evaluate every player on his roster before he makes any movement this season.
Ujiri, who was hired by the Raptors last summer after a successful three-year stint with Denver Nuggets, insisted that he will not put any player on the trading block until he has a complete evaluation on him.
"It's our first time all together," Ujiri told Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun. "It's an evaluation time for us.
"We are still evaluating. I don't know (about the team). I can't tell you yet. Maybe after a couple of weeks, I will be able to say," he added.
The Raptors are expected to be a playoff contender this season after as Jonas Valanciunas, DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay continue to evolve not only as a basketball player but leaders of the team,
"My team is now," Ujiri added. "My time is now. All I know is now and the future. So they (fans) can start criticizing from today. We're excited about the season. We're going to do what's best for the team and the organization."
