The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers are both aiming for fourth straight win in a row. Only one of them will get it as the teams meet on Wednesday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The Mavs’ streak improved their record to 23-16 at this point of the season—their best mark since being above the 0.500 record since the 2011-2012 season.

The Clippers, which averages 105.3 points per game or third in the league, have had no problem scoring in recent games despite playing without star point guard Chris Paul, who’s set to miss up to five weeks because of separated right shoulder.

L.A. has averaged 111.6 PPG in their last three wins as Darren Collison has stepped up in lieu of their starting PG, averaging 17.5 PPG and 6.7 assists per game the last four games. Curiously, Paul’s last game was against Dallas on Jan 3 when the Clips beat the Mavs, 119-112. DeAndre Jordan had a career-high 25 points in that game and added 18 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

The Mavericks are 9th in the league in scoring at 103.1 PPG led by Dirk Nowtizki (21.2 PPG) and Monta Ellis (20.2 PPG). After going 2-3 to start the new year, Dallas has won over New Orleans twice in a home-and-home and beat a lowly Orlando Magic squad via a 107-88 blowout.

L.A., meanwhile, has beaten the Magic, 101-81; Boston Celtics, 111-105, and Los Angeles Lakers, 123-87, in their last three games to improve to 26 and 13, good for 4th in the Western Conference.
