The Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets are the hottest teams in the league at this point of the regular season. Thunder’s run is expected because they have the mighty and streaking Kevin Durant. The Nets? Who would have thought that they would be shooting for the league’s best win-loss mark in January?

Durant has scored over 30 points in a dozen straight games now to tow the Thunder to a nine-game winning streak. This run has led them to the league's best record (37-10) overtaking the Indiana Pacers, which lost to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.

The Nets, meanwhile, are 10-2 in their last 12 games-- another win will mean the best record in the month of January and put them just two and a half games off the division leaders Toronto (24-21).

Durant had 33 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the Thunder’s convincing 112-95 blowout of the defending champions Miami Heat on the road on Wednesday.

Serge Ibaka had 22 points and 8 rebounds, but it was the surprise contributions from the bench that got OKC going. Veteran Derek Fisher had 15 points on 5-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc, while Jeremy Lamb had 18 markers after hitting four 3-pointers.

The Nets had a five-game winning streak snapped versus Toronto on Monday after a late-game collapse. Paul Pierce's season-high 33 points and Andray Blatche's 20 points went to waste when Brooklyn made a crucial turnover with 6 seconds left in the game that gave the Raptors a chance to steal the 104-103 victory.
