LeBron James soared for a dunk only to see Mason Plumlee deny it near the basket. The entire Heat fanbase screamed foul but the refs never gave it to give the Brooklyn Nets another close 88-87 victory over the defending champions Miami Heat.

Surprisingly and interestingly since these teams could meet in the deeper round of the playoffs, the Nets have swept the Heat in their regular season series. Three games were decided by a solitary point and yet another went to double overtime.

The trio of Joe Johnson (19 points), Marcus Thornton (16 points) and Paul Pierce (14 points) was big for the Nets.

LeBron James had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists but did not have support from the usual suspects. Chris Bosh only had 12 poins on 5-of-13 shooting while Dwyane Wade missed the game because of an injury.

The Heat dropped to 53-24 with the loss and now just half a game ahead of the struggling Indiana Pacers (53-25).
