NBA Recap: Memphis Grizzlies Beat Miami Heat, 103-95, Snap 4-Game Skid
The Memphis Grizzlies’ longest losing streak of the season has come to an end after a total team effort led the squad to a 103-95 road victory over the Miami Heat. Six players ended up in double-figure scoring for the Grizzlies led by Mike Conley’s 24 and Marc Gasol’s 22 points. The star point guard hit 4-of-6 shots from behind the arc and the star big man added 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
Memphis ran to a 27-to-16 lead after the first canto and added more by halftime, where they held a huge 57-41 advantage. The Heat fought back in the third quarter outscoring Memphis, 28-15 in that period to cut down the lead to just three points, 72-69 entering the payoff period. Mario Chalmers gave Miami the lead, 75-74 with 9:25 to go in the game but the Grizzlies pulled away again late in the fourth quarter.
Without starting power forward Zach Randolph, other players stepped up for the Grizzlies. Tony Allen and Courtney Lee chipped in 10 points apiece while Tayshaun Prince and Beno Udrih came off the bench to score 10 and 11 markers, respectively. Dwyane Wade led the losing team with 25 points on an efficient 11-of-17 shooting while Luol Deng and Danny Granger added a combined 34 points but the Heat had little help elsewhere.
Memphis lost to the Chicago Bulls, 103-97; Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-91; Utah Jazz, 97-91; and Houston Rockets, 117-111 (OT) in their previous four games but now improved to 22-8 overall for the season and 10-4 on the road. The Heat dropped to a measly 14-17 win-loss record with six wins in a total of 17 home games thus far. They have also lost six of their last nine games four of the last six outings in Miami.
