NBA Recap: Miami Heat Put New York Knicks on the Brink of Elimination [PHOTOS]
No thanks to LeBron James' 38 points and Carmelo Anthony's back injury, the New York Knicks are now in real danger of getting the boot from playoff contention.
Coupled with an Atlanta win over the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks (33-45) are now two games behind the Hawks (34-42) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
James also had 5 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal. The Heat played without Dwyane Wade and got contributions from Mario Chalmers (15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists), Chris Bosh (14 points and 7 rebounds) and Udonis Haslem (6 points and 11 rebounds).
Miami survived a three-point shooting barrage by Knick guard J.R. Smith, who attempted an NBA-record 22 3-pointers. He lived up to his billing as a "chucker" making 10 from behind the arc to finish with 32 points. Anthony finished with only 13 points on 4-of-17 field goal shooting.
