Dirk Nowitzki had 32 points-- seven of which in the extra period-- led the Dallas Mavericks past the Oklahoma City Thunder, 128-119 in an overtime thriller in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday.

These teams could potentially meet in the first round of the Western Playoffs. Currently, the Thunder (52-19) are in 2nd place in the conference while the Mavericks (43-29) are in 8th place.

The win was enough for Dallas to move ahead of the idle Phoenix Suns (42-29) by half a game.

There were lots of help for Dirk in this upset win by Dallas, which has now won the season series over OKC, 2-1. Jose Calderon finished with 22 points and 8 assists while Monta Ellis and 17 markers and 4 steals. Off the bench, the Mavs got double-figures from Vince Carter (17 points) and Jae Crowder (10 points).

Kevin Durant had 43 points and Russell Westbrook had 22 for the Thunder, which had their four-game winning streak snapped. OKC is now 2 and 1/2 games back the San Antonio Spurs (54-16) for the best record in the NBA.
