The Chicago Bulls could make a package to get combo guard Jeremy Lin to address their backcourt need for the remainder of the season, a source close to the situation reported on Monday.

Lin, who is currently hampered with knee and back injuries as of late, could see him playing for another ballclub before the midseason trade deadline. There no secret the Rockets have been busy making deals for their disgruntled center Omer Asik, but a league source disclosed of the ballclub's intention to shop the former Harvard hotshot.

There are numerous trade scenarios swirling around, but Yahoo Sports contributor Matthew Smith provided a nice breakdown on how the potential trade involving Lin would end up.

"In this aggressive scenario, the Bulls receive Jeremy Lin, Elton Brand and DeMarre Carroll, the Hawks end up with Omer Asik, and the Rockets acquire Luol Deng and a conditional first-round pick from Bulls Here is how the trade -- which couldn't be completed until after the December trade restrictions have passed -- would impact each team," Smith stated in his recent article.

For the Bulls, Lin will be a big plus for the ballclub which desperately needs a natural scorer on their roster. He might not be of the same caliber as Derrick Rose, but his ability to create his own and others shots will really help the Bulls become competitive despite the absence of their franchise point guard.

Lin averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game in his second season with the Rockets. But before he was sidelined for two weeks with a strained right knee injury, Lin was actually one of the leading scorers of the team, averaging at least 18 points and 7 assists per outing.

In November, Lin erupted for 31 points in a 110-104 double overtime win over the Toronto Raptors. He followed it up with a 34-point, 12-dime performance in a loss against the Philadelphia 76ers.

On the other hand, the other fragments of the proposed trade are expected to make big impact on their new team. Asik will boost up the Hawks' frontline and defense, while the Rockets are set to rack up more wins with two-time All-Star Luol Deng coming off the bench.

This trade proposal appears crazy, but this really can happen in the next few weeks as teams scramble for additional firepower before the trade window closes out.
