NBA Trade news: Milwaukee Bucks looking to add Carlos Boozer, Caron Butler
The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly looking to add veterans Carlos Boozer and Caron Butler in their team as they try to push for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, Bucks head coach Jason Kidd and manager John Hammond have met with Boozer in Los Angeles during their West Coast trip. Timothy Rapp of Bleacher Report also reported that while the Bucks already have a stacked frontcourt, with Greg Monroe, Jabari Parker and John Henson manning the power forward and centre positions, Boozer would provide Milwaukee a “veteran presence and playoff experience.”
Boozer last played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2014-2015 season, where he averaged 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 23.8 of playing time. However, the 34-year-old forward was left unsigned in this summer’s free agency and was reportedly linked to play overseas.
Meanwhile, another veteran player on the Bucks’ radar is Sacramento Kings forward Caron Butler. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Kings are planning to move Butler before the trade deadline to give the 13-year NBA veteran more playing time in another team.
“Bucks have young squad & clear need for veteran leadership after losing Jared Dudley & Zaza Pachulia to make financial room for Greg Monroe,” Stein posted on Twitter.
Butler has only played eight games for the Bucks this season with an average minutes of 10.0 a game. He is only averaging 2.5 points and 1.1 rebounds per contest, but like Boozer, his veteran presence in the young Milwaukee roster would be very much needed.
The Bucks are currently 13th in the East with a 10-17 record. After ending the Golden State Warriors’ historical streak, the Bucks dropped two games on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Lakers.
"The fight was there and the intent was right," Kidd said, reports ESPN. "The guys played hard, but the ball did not fall for us. The effort was extremely high, but we just could not make the plays when we needed to."
The Bucks face the Warriors again on Friday night (Saturday AEDT) and will head to Phoenix on Sunday to face the Suns.
