NBA veterans and rookies looking for teams will get their chance to prove themselves as the respective training camps of NBA teams open on Saturday.

For the said team try-outs various players have already been invited Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over in Texas, the San Antonio Spurs have invited veteran wingman Corey Maggette and the Dallas Mavericks will have Renaldo Balkman in their training camp roster.

Maggette last played for the Detroit Pistons and also played for the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Bobcats in 14 years in the league.

For Balkman, his impressive showing in the recent FIBA Americas Championship might have convinced Dallas to take a second look at him. The volatile forward averaged 18.7 points and 8.9 rebounds to lead Puerto Rico in qualifying for the 2014 FIBA World Championships in Spain.

Meanhwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Darius Johnson-Odom and Eric Boateng to camp deals. Both players saw time with the NBA’s Developmental League. The Lakers training camp roster is now at 18.

Johnson-Odom is the 55th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and played for four games for the Lakers last year. Boateng has played the last three years for the Idaho Stampede and Austin Toros in the NBDL and also internationally in Greece and Germany.

Finally, the Grizzlies tapped forward-center Melvin Ely as training camp invite. The 35-year-old averaged 9.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2005-2006 season.
