NBA West Powers: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Clippers [PREVIEW]
It’s a match-up that pits the league’s best scorer in Kevin Durant against the NBA’s best passer, Chris Paul as the Oklahoma City Thunder willl visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.
Durant averages 30.2 points per game in the season, while Paul logs in 14.3 assists per outing.
Paul adds 21.3 markers a night, making him the first player to record at least 10 points and 10 assists in his first 8 games of the regular season since John Stockton with the Utah Jazz did it in the 1991-1992 NBA regular season.
While Paul and Durant are the best players in their respective teams, they won’t be directly guarding each other. That task falls to the comebacking Russell Westbrook whose early return from his injury has given a boost to the Thunder.
Westbrook has averaged 19.0 points and 6.9 assists in four games since his return helping Oklahoma to four straight wins.
The Clippers, meanwhile, are coming off back-to-back wins against quality opponents.
They beat the Houston Rockets on the road, 107-94, behind Blake Griffin’s 22 points and 7 rebounds and DeAndre Jordan’s 12 points and 18 rebounds. Then they nipped the Minnesota Timberwolves, 109-107, led by another great effort from Griffin (25 points and 10 rebounds) and Jordan (14 points and 11 rebounds).
The Thunder took all three games in 2012's season series.
