The Indiana Pacers were pegged as one of the top contenders for this season after a successful campaign last year. Not much hype was given to the Portland Trail Blazers but they own one of the best records in the league so far in the 2013-2014 NBA regular season.

The Pacers (16-1) visit the Moda Center in Portland, which are surprisingly tied for the Western Conference’s best mark at 14-3.

Indiana’s excellent and impressive start was questioned by many because of a soft schedule to begin the year. All those criticisms disappeared after beating the Los Angeles Clippers, 105-to-100 at the Staples Center Sunday.

Four Pacers ended up in double-figures led by Paul George who had 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and David West who had 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Roy Hibbert added 19 points and 8 rebounds and George Hill chipped in 11 points and 6 assists for the Pacers, which improved to 7-1 on the road this season and are having their best start in franchise history.

Meanwhile, the Blazers bounced back with a 114-to-108 win against the Los Angeles Lakers after losing to the Phoenix Suns, 120-106 last Wednesday. Portland has now won 12 of their last 13 outings and are 6-1 at home entering the marquee match-up with the Pacers.

LaMarcus Aldridge continued to show his MVP-form with 27 pints, 9 rebounds and 3 assists while Damian Lillard had 26 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists against the Lakers.

Not only both teams have been successful this season but they have also been tearing it up against the spread. The Pacers have covered five of their last six games and are 6-1 ATS on the road while the Blazers are beat the spread 10 of their last 13 games and are 12-3-1 ATS vs. East teams in their last 16 outings.
