NCAA Football Preview and Live Streaming: #8 Louisville vs. Rutgers
The Louisville Cardinals and Rutgers Scarlet Knights are set to play their last football game together as members of the American Athletic Conference before they go on their separate ways. The Cardinals are set to leave for the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2014, while the Scarlet Knights will move to the Big Ten.
Both teams are on a winning streak, with Louisville winning all five of their games so far and Rutgers winning four straight after dropping their season opener against Fresno State. The Cardinals are ranked #8 in the AP Poll, while the Scarlet Knights are unranked.
Almost all of the Cardinals' games have been blowouts, including a 72-0 win against Florida International. They will come into the game with leading receiver DeVante Parker being declared day-to-day with an injured right shoulder. As long as junior star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater finds his men, though, Louisville is on track for a win. Bridgewater has thrown for 1,562 yards in his first five games and is all set to shatter his single-season record of 3,744. He is widely seen as one of the top prospects for the 2014 NFL Draft.
The Scarlet Knights might have won four of five games, but except for Norfolk State and Eastern Michigan, they have been close fights so far. They won over Arkansas by just 4 and had to grind it out in overtime to prevail over Southern Methodist. An upset win over the Cardinals could bolster their chance at a bowl game, their first since 2009, and will be a good start to a tough AAC conference schedule that includes games against Houston, Central Florida and Cincinnati. They also received votes in Week Six, and a win might push them into the top 25 for the first time in 2013.
All things considered, though, Louisville is much more talented and has the home crowd behind them as they play in a Papa John's Cardinal Stadium with a capacity of 55,000. But Rutgers has the chance to keep the game close, and when they do, the Scarlet Knights are a dangerous fourth-quarter team.
