‘NCIS’ season 14: Rocky Carroll talks about directing Mark Harmon, Mary Stuart Masterson returns
“NCIS” season 14 episode 12 was directed by Rocky Carroll, who plays the role of director Leon Vance in the show. Carroll recently opened up about the experience of directing Mark Harmon (Leroy Jethro Gibbs) on the show. He said that it was lot of fun directing him in a different role as he goes undercover in the episode. He also said that Mary Stuart Masterson (Jenna Flemming) will return on the show soon.
Carroll said that it was for the first time that Harmon got the opportunity to play “another character other than Gibbs.” Gibbs goes undercover with infamous anti-government militia in the episode after he spots the brother of a top suspect in search of him. “I got to direct Mark not only as Gibbs but also as this other character, so it was a lot of fun,” he said.
Carroll said that it is difficult to supervise all the actors, especially when he himself has to return as a cast member later. Hence, he tries to be diplomatic when he is working with his fellow mates. “I always think to myself, ‘When this is over, I have to come back as an actor.’ If I create any bad blood or any friction with my cast members, it’s going to reverberate when I return.”
Furthermore, he revealed that Mary Stuart Masterson, who initially guest starred in the show and later became a recurring character, will return to one of the episodes soon. “I think they’re trying to create a love interest for Vance now. We brought in Mary Stuart Masterson for an episode and she’ll be returning pretty soon, too,” he told Parade.com.
“NCIS” season 14 episode 13 will be directed by Terrence O’ Hara. Titled “Keep Going,” the episode will air on Jan.24 on SBS in the US. The new season will be telecast on Channel Ten in Australia at 8:30PM on Tuesdays from Feb. 7.
