‘Neighbours’ spoilers for Oct. 20: Two couples realise surrogacy is way over their heads; Lauren panics over Brad’s mystery illness
Health matters and body issues seem to be the central theme of the upcoming episode of “Neighbours.” On Thursday, Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney), Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey), Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor) and Stephanie Scully (Carla Bonner) find out that their life-changing decision is not as simple as they expected. Spoilers suggest that despite agreeing to Sonya’s proposal, Toadie is still not 100 per cent sold with the idea.
Meanwhile, Lauren Turner (Kate Kendall) is wrought with worry about Brad Willis (Kip Gamblin), who’s still confined in the hospital. She blames herself for her future husband’s health scare and becomes paranoid that his condition has taken a turn for the worse. Other “Neighbours” cast members who will also appear on the Oct. 20 episode include Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), Piper Willis (Mavournee Hazel), Paige Smith (Olympia Valance) and Jack Callahan (Andrew Morley).
“Neighbours” also stars Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne), Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson), Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou), Gary Canning (Damien Richardson), Sheila Canning (Colette Mann), Amy Williams (Zoe Cramond), Tyler Brennan (Travis Burns), Ben Ian Kirk (Felix Mallard), Xanthe Canning (Lilly Van Der Meer), Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta), Ned Willis (Ben Hall), David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) and Leo Tanaka (Tim Kano).

“Neighbours” posted a sneak peek of Thursday’s episode on its Facebook page. In the clip, Karl wonders how Toadie feels about the counselling session. Toadie says that one of Gary’s mates put him onto a fertility clinic in the city. Toadie admits that he went but Sonya doesn’t know. Karl advises him to be honest with his wife and friends if he had any reservations about the surrogacy.
Digital Spy reports that Sonya and Toadie, along with Mark and Steph, go to their first interview with their fertility doctor Victoria. The four begin to realise that the surrogacy process is more complex and confronting than they first thought.
Meanwhile, Lauren blames herself for Brad’s recent health crisis. When she’s asked to step out of his room, she begins to worry that Karl has grim news about Brad’s condition.
“Neighbours” recap
On Wednesday, the Cannings, together with Amy, appeared in “Family Feud.” It was an awkward encounter following their discovery that Gary’s been seeing Terese. Xanthe, meanwhile, seemed to have a case of stage fright and turned out to be a blabbering mess. Despite their differences, the Cannings won the game.
During the bonus round, Sheila let her anger get the best of her and Terese’s name even came up. The host sensed something’s amiss and it had something to do with Terese, so he asked Gary about it. Gary confided in on him – even oversharing information – and the host gave him a piece of advice. He told Gary to sort things out – it’s obvious that Terese is making him miserable. In the end, the Cannings won and took home $10,000.
At home, the family celebrated their win. Later, Gary and Sheila had a serious discussion about Terese. When he went outside to get some air, he bumped into Terese. She apologised for what happened and invited him for a little rendezvous. However, he wanted to go out for some drinks first and celebrate. He’s testing if Terese would agree dating in public. When she refused, Gary got the message loud and clear. He said he’d work for her and respect her as his boss but he just couldn’t let things go any further between them.
Paige confronted Jack about Simone’s arrival. When Paige left, Jack confided in on Simone about Paige. He admitted that he broke his vows for Paige, leaving Simone flustered. Later, Jack went to see Paige at Harold’s and told her that he needs more time to process what’s going on. When Paige asked what’s holding him back, Jack said he needs to be more sure. Paige couldn’t take the waiting game anymore and kicked him out.
Later at The Waterhole, Mark spotted Paige venting her anger on the dartboard. She opened up to him and expressed her suspicions – it seems Jack’s ex was the reason that he changed his mind. Mark tried to convince her that Jack loves her and advised her to think about it first before making any rash decisions. Outside, Simone approached her and told her that Jack’s never going to change his mind. Simone advised Paige to let go.
Things also didn’t go smoothly between Amy and David. She went over to his house to clear things out. The two kissed, but it was clear David’s mind was somewhere else. He also said he didn’t send her the flowers – it must have been Leo who did. David said he’s attracted to her, but he’s not in the position right now to pursue any relationship. Devastated, Amy walked away.
