What happens when English authoress Jane Austen meets a vampire? Australians will soon find out as Jane and the Damned hits the shelves next week.

Haper Collins Australia is set to release the fictionalized biography of the beloved English authoress on November 9.

In the new book, fans follow the misadventures of aspiring writer Jane Austen, who despite knowing that young ladies like herself are supposed to shun the Damned, the exquisitely seductive vampires of Georgian England in 1797, gets involved in a flirtation, resulting in her being turned, by an absolute cad of a bloodsucker.

After she becomes a vampire, Jane Austen acquiesces to her family's wishes and departs for Bath to take the waters, the only known cure. But what she encounters there is completely unexpected: perilous jealousies and further betrayals, a new friendship and a possible love.

Jane and the Damned is written by Janet Mullany, who has worked as an archaeologist, waitress, draftsperson, radio announcer, performing arts administrator, proofreader, and bookseller. She now lives near Washington, D.C.
