Hold your breath, the new Brad Pitt movie, 12 Years a Slave, trailer has hit the web and it indeed looks riveting. One of the main reasons to be curious about this movie is that it talks about the poignant issue of slavery in America and undeniably very few movies in American Cinema have touched this critical topic, which had plagued the humanity for years.

"I don't want to survive. I want to live." Laced with such heartrending dialogues and emotions the new film produced by veteran actor Brad Pitt is a far more pragmatic depiction of slavery as compared to Django unchained.

Directed by Steve McQueen, the movie revolves around Solomon Northup (Ejiofor), a free black man belonging to top brass of Europe. Under adverse circumstances, Solomon is kidnapped and is held as a captive by pernicious slave owner ( Fassbender).

To live and to maintain his dignity, Solomon battles up his way until in his 12th year of enslavement he meets Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) who would change his life forever.

Along with 49-year-old , Brad Pitt, the eminent star cast of the movie includes Michael Fassbender,Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Michael Fassbender has been prominent in most of the McQueen's films and has played lead in his films such as 'Hunger' and 'Shame'. The role of a barbarous slave owner in '12 Years of Slave' would give us another peep into the acting skills of the highly talented actor.

While the award winning Shakespearen actor,Chiwetel Ejiofor, has much more to explore here (especially when he has been doing small role in most of the Hollywood movies).

From the trailer it is clear that if it hits all the right notes, it can become a serious contender for Oscars. The controversial topic as well as the ensemble cast has up the ante for this new McQueen offering which would be hitting the theaters near you on October 18th. Let's hope this film delivers what it shows in the trailer.
