New Jersey Woman Sues Boss for $6M for Saying She Looks Like Britain’s Got Talent’s Susan Boyle (VIDEOS)
Laura Ziv, 45, the ad director of a fragrance company in Lawrence, is blaming her boss for the brain hemorrhage she suffered resulting from stress because her boss said she looks like Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle.
Ms Liv, who filed a $6 million lawsuit with the Manhattan Supreme Court against her supervisor, Herve Pierini, at Firmenich, went on leave in June after she was diagnosed with high blood pressure.
The name-calling incident happened at a party hosted by one of the top executives of their client. Mr Pierini was alleged to have said, referring to Ms Liv, "Fatty here is having a cupcake."
Besides the offending remark, Ms Liv also accused her boss of removing her from a large account and withholding a bonus he promised.
Ms Boyle, then 49, shot to fame from anonymity in 2009 when she astonished the judges, including the very picky Simon Cowell, with her angelic like voice despite her comely look and not-so-impressive physical appearance.
After that appearance, Ms Boyle had a makeover and even had a pictorial for Harper's Bazaar Magazine in 2009.
In her appearance with 1970s heartthrob Donny Osmond in Glasgow in February 2013, Susan has retained her body size, but continued to impress the audience with her powerful voice and superb performance.
Had Mr Pierini compared her to the Scottish singer's voice and not weight, perhaps the lawsuit would be unnecessary.
