Apple recently announced their new line of MacBook Pro 2012 in their recently concluded WWDC 2012. Their MacBook Pro 2012 line is composed of 10 new models and contains new and exciting features from Apple.

Retina Display

One of the highlights of the new MacBook Pro 2012 is its Retina Display. Ever since Retina Display was introduced in Apple's new iPad, many people are clamoring for this feature to be incorporated in other Apple products and it seems like the new MacBook Pro 2012 line will be the first one to receive this new feature. Through having a Retina Display, the next generation model will have more than 5 million pixels thus making it the "world's highest resolution notebook display."

Phil Schiller, the Worldwide marketing vice-president of Apple described this new line of MacBook Pro stating the following:
"You want a next-generation MacBook Pro to have a killer new display," Mr Schiller said. "You want it to have an architecture built for the future and of course you want it to be bold and discard the old legacy features. The next-generation MacBook Pro is the most beautiful MacBook we've ever made."

The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display has 256GB of flash storage, 8GB of RAM, and the new Ivy Bridge Processor. The selling price for this model starts at US$2,199 and paying an additional US$600 would mean double storage capacity and processing speed for this model. There is no word yet about its official price in the Australian market.

Thinner and Powerful MacBook Pro

Another thing that was pointed out during the WWDC 2012 is the thinner dimension of the next-generation MacBook Pro models. According to Apple, the MacBook Pro has slimmed down to 1.8cm and only weighs around 2kg-much lighter and thinner as compared to the previous model. Despite that, Apple has assured consumers that it will still have a powerful processing speed die to the new Ivy Bridge Processor which is also known as Intel's latest Core i7 quad-core processors.

No Optical Drive

In order for Apple to incorporate all of these additional features within the specific price range, the company decided to discard some of the common features found in the usual netbook models. One of which is an optical drive that is utilized for CDs, DVDs, or Blu-ray. Users could instead purchase an external USB Drive for an additional US$79. Aside from that, there is also no ethernet port and Fire Wire port. Users can instead use adapters that are available for additional purchase.

Upgrade or Not to Upgrade?

Overall, the new features and specifications for the new MacBook Pro 2012 are very much innovative and in line with their goal of bringing something new in the market. It is about time that their MacBook Pro line has been revamped and these additional features indeed makes the MacBook Pro 2012 a must have for users. The bottom line? If people can afford the new MacBook Pro 2012, they better grab one since this will be a worthy investment in the years to come.
