Scarlett Johansson is a new momma, but she is already gearing up for work and will be seen on the small screen now. The 29-year-old actress has signed up for a limited TV series "The Custom of The Country," says news media, CNN. The series is based on Edith Wharton's 1913 novel by the same name and revolves around a story of a highly ambitious New York based actress Undine Spragg.

Johansson, who gave birth to her daughter Rose on September 4, will be seen in the role of the lead character Undine Spragg in an eight-episode series, reveals Deadline. The series will be shown on Sony Television. British playwright-screenwriter Christopher Hampton, known for his works in "Atonement" will adapt the novel for the screen and the series will be jointly executively produced by Sony Pictures TV and Johansson too.

Deadline reveals that Hampton had earlier written the script of "The Custom Of The Country" for Michelle Pfeiffer in 1993. Pfeiffer had starred in "Age Of Innocence" earlier which too is based on Wharton's book.

It is not the first time that the "Her" actress will be seen on the small screen. Johansson has previously appeared in the first few episodes of the short-lived 1995 TV series "The Client." The glamorous big screen actress has also been involved in the voice work for "Robot Chicken." But "The Custom of The Country" will allow television viewers to see more of Johansson and can easily be considered her biggest television role yet.

Describing the role which Scarlett is expected to play, Deadline reveals that "Undine is as unscrupulous as she is magnetically beautiful" who rises to "the top of New York's high society from her nouveau riche roots" but does not have a happy life because of her huge aspirations.

The actress is currently in great shape after giving birth to her child just last month. Daily Mail is displaying pictures of the 29-year-old in her gym clothes and the actress does not show any signs of fat on her post baby body. She was seen kissing her partner Romain Dauriac before leaving for the gym. Scarlett was seen wearing black tights, a gym jacket and dark sunglasses. Check out the pictures here.
