Ryan Anderson, who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, couldn't even start to talk about the tragic death of girlfriend reality TV star Gia Allemand.

On Monday, Anderson spoke openly about the painful and unanticipated loss he continues to mourn and feels sad about. He attended the first practice of the training camp and he was, apparently, asked how he has been going through.

"Every day is a challenge," Anderson said. "It helps a lot just to be here, to be here with my teammates surely helps, but it has been a rollercoaster ride," he added. "My family's with me," he continued.

On Aug 13, Gia Allemand, Anderson's girlfriend, committed suicide. She attempted to kill herself by hanging. Anderson found her unconscious and lifeless. She was rushed to the hospital right away. However, the next day, her life support was taken off because she wouldn't have survived anyway due to brain and organ failure.

Anderson is trying to gather all the emotional strength to continue living, and he hopes to be able to do something in memory of Gia in a way that can give benefits to other people who could be suffering the way she did, ESPN reported.

It seems that Anderson will start a foundation under his deceased girlfriend's name. "The foundation is supposed to help everyone who is experiencing that same condition and let them know that they are not alone," Anderson told ESPN.

For those of you who are probably thinking why the name Gia Allemand sounds familiar. She actually appeared on the popular reality TV shows The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad.

According to Anderson, the support that he gets from his family, basketball teammates and God has helped him a lot to carry on with his life. Evidently, Ryan Anderson is going through a tough time, and he will need all the support he can get from the people around him.
