New ‘Spider-Man: Unlimited’ Update Introduces Spider-Punk
The latest web head to hit "Spider-Man: Unlimited" comes with a rebellious attitude and music loud enough to wake up the whole neighborhood. In the next "Spider-Man: Unlimited" update, Gameloft introduces the "Spider-Punk" - whose game name is actually Punk Rock Spider-Man - a character who is clearly influenced by punk rock music and taking down the man and was appropriately reported by MTV.
A gameplay video released by Gameloft and Marvel Entertainment in Youtube not only showed Spider-Punk in action, but showcased new gameplay elements as well. The next "Spider-Man: Unlimited" update looks to introduce new obstacles and scenarios, along with a new level based on the New York subway.
New animations were also shown when tangling with bosses and one particular scenario had Spider-Punk avoiding a missile. A "Spider-Man: Unlimited" update usually adds more than one new Spider-Man, so it appears that an announcement regarding the subject matter will be made in the future as no release date was confirmed.
The most recent update of the game introduced a good number of characters like Spider-Man UK, Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales, Silk, Spider-Woman, Cyborg Spider-man and more. There is also a poll as to who the next alternate Spider character should be; players have the option of voting for Spider-Man India, Spider-Knight and Woman Spider.
Set to appear in "Spider-Verse #2" later this week, the Spider-Punk originally debuted in "Amazing Spider-Man #10" siding with the "Superior" Spider-Man Otto Octavius in a huge multi-verse war against the Inheritors, ruled by Morlun and Karn. The "Spider-Verse" issue of Spider-Punk will be written by Jed MacKay and drawn by Sheldon Vella.
Rather than being an alternate version of Peter Parker like most of the alternate universe Spider-Men, the Spider-Punk is a name very familiar to fans of the Spider-Man lore: Hobbie Brown. Hobbie is an on again/off again ally of the wall crawler in the regular Spider-Man comics under the guise of "The Prowler" and was even a member of "The Defenders." Often clashing, the two eventually became friends and have helped each other out numerous times. Brown even donned the Spider-Man costume to help Peter Parker keep his identity safe. Stan Lee and John Buscema created the character.
