New ‘Star Wars’ Movie by ‘Godzilla’ Director – More Stand Alone Movies in the Works
"Star Wars" fans are excited to learn that multiple spinoff movies from the popular franchise will be hitting the theaters soon. The first of these movies will be directed by Gareth Edwards, known for the recently released "Godzilla" movie.
Lucas film and Disney are working on multiple spinoff movies, the details were released in the official "Star Wars" Web site.The first of movie will be released by December 16, 2016. The movie will be directed by Gareth Edwards and the screenplay is being written by Gary Whitta.
Gareth Edwards shot to fame for writing and directing the animated movie "Monsters." His recent movie "Godzilla" has added to his fame. Gary Whitta is a journalist and editor credited for the screenwriting of the movie "The Book of Eli," he was also part of the BAFTA award winning team on Telltale Games adaptation of "The Walking Dead."
All the "Star Wars" movies released so far have mainly focused on the Skywalker family, the original trilogy was about Luke Skywalker becoming a Jedi and taking on Darth Vader and the Empire. The recent trilogy focused on the life of Anakin Skywalker.
The upcoming "Star Wars" is the continuation of the saga and will feature the characters from the original trilogy. Luke Skywalker his sister Leia and Han Solo are some of the popular characters featuring in the upcoming movie. Many fans were hoping for more stand alone movies after Disney took over the Lucas Films.
Some of the popular character driven "Star Wars" movie ideas include the bounty hunter Boba Fett, adventures of smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, Master Yoda, Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, droids C-3PO and R2-D2 and stories of the clone soldiers.
Fans have also been waiting for a movie to focus more on the dark side of The Force. The avid gamming enthusiasts have their list of characters that they would like to see as a film, top among them is Darth Revan.
The stand alone "Star Wars" movie can also choose from multiple novels and comic books from the franchise. Fans are excited to see more spinoff movies from the franchise and explore some of the worlds which have not yet featured in the movies.
