New York Store Staff Gets Even With Boss from Hell

If Lenovo Chief Executive Officer Yan Yuanqing could be considered the ideal boss, having given this week his more than $3 million bonus to the tech firm's 10,000 workers, the opposite is true for the store manager of Journeys in Rochester, New York, whose staff resigned en masse by publicly leaving their open letter to him.

The letter, addressed to Jamie, was written on a large white paper and taped to the door of the shop for any passers by to read the note.

It cited the reasons why the store staff - Niki, Jess and TJ - opted to let the public know of their sentiments toward their boss such as Jamie's saying that "cancer is not an excuse" and his attitude that it is OK to swear at employees like he often does, prompting the three to quit and pack their bags.

The three are the manager, co-manager and key holder of the shop which had been losing its staff with the longest not staying more than one year.

Besides the possibility of facing a fine for being close during mall hours, Journeys would also find it difficult to run without any additional staff, especially now that it is in the middle of school holidays.

Journey's director of corporate relations, Clair McCall, said they take situations like this seriously and is investigating the issue.
