Animals with birth defects are not that unique, but this cow in New Zealand has everyone in awe. A veterinarian who saw the calf in New Zealand thought it was "pretty unusual" which would seem to be an understatement considering the deformed baby cow had two bodies, eight legs and four ears.

Neil Davy, the New Zealand dairy farmer who helped deliver the stillborn calf on Aug.19, said that if he was not around during the delivery, the mother cow would have also died. Mr Davy told the NZ Farmer Web site that it was difficult since he was soaked in lube and calf goo. He said it was tragic to see both the mother cow and the calf suffer during the delivery.

The dairy farmer in New Zealand thought the mother cow was having twins since he could see 2 bodies. Identical twins come from the same egg that divides while inside the mother's womb. Mr Davy's calf could have come from one egg but divided incompletely.

In 2012, a calf in Switzerland was born with another pair of legs. Swiss veterinarians didn't expect the calf to last long with six legs but at two months old, the animal seems to be doing fine. Another bizarre deformity was discovered in Georgia in 2011. A calf with two heads was born and grew up using two heads to eat.

It's not only in cattle that odd deformities can be seen. A turtle with 2 heads was born at the San Antonio Zoo on June 18. The two heads of the turtle were named Thelma and Louise after the 1991 Oscar-winning movie's popular female duo.

Thelma and Louise have grown so popular that they have their own Facebook Page. Louise is the left head while the Thelma is the right. Visitors can see the two-headed turtle on display in the US zoo's Friedrich Aquarium.
