Former New Zealand cricketers Chris Cairns, Daryl Tuffey and Lou Vincent are reportedly under investigation for alleged match-fixing.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) made the announcement that the board was indeed looking at Cairns, Tuffey and Vincent for their suspected participation in match-fixing. No official charges against the three have been filed yet. However, ongoing investigations are underway.

Cairns is New Zealand's fourth highest wicket taker in Tests. "My heart sank," said Cairns in an interview with One Sport. "I have yet to be contacted by any of the authorities involved - NZ or ICC so to be perfectly honest, I'm as much as in the dark as you guys," he added. His lawyers have sent a letter to ICC, stating that their client is more than willing to cooperate, but demands that the current state of affairs be laid down in black and white.

Vincent, on the other hand, refused to make further comments regarding the investigation. He would be making statements for the general public and he is able to. "Please respect me and my family's privacy until such time," he added. Vincent represented New Zealand in Test match, One Day International, and Twenty20 International.

Tuffey has reportedly been in shock to find out about the allegations too. He said that his name somehow got caught in the pit, somewhere down the line. He also stated that he has to be told of what is really going on because he was oblivious of the said investigation until his mates started calling him.

The New Zealand Cricket (NZC), much like the three former cricketers being investigated, was also in awe to learn about the inquisition. However, NZC made it clear that they will support ICC in its quest to find out if match-fixing really did take place.

"We support the ICC's investigation as corruption has no place in our sport," said NZC Chief Executive David White.
