The next-generation Nexus 7 tablet has been officially unveiled recently and soon will reach store shelves before the end of July 2013. Know the new things about newest and another affordable Nexus tablet hitting the market very soon.

Nexus 7 2 All-New Screen

It is exactly the 7-inch screen from its predecessor, except for the 1280 x 800 resolution before which becomes a class-leading full HD 1920 x 1200 display. The pixel per inch also increased from 216 to 323, displaying crispier images and videos. The Nexus 7 2 will enable a native full HD 1080p video playback as well and Google claims better browsing experience.

Processor and Memory Upgraded

The Nexus 7 2 represents a whole new level of performance with 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, giving off twice as much processing power than the previous Nexus 7. The Adreno 320 will be the CPUs partner for the GPU and multiplies graphics power by four. Both the CPU and GPU are backed up with 2GB of RAM for better multi-tasking prowess.

No More 8GB - 16GB or 32GB Only

Google ditches the 8GB variant for the Nexus 7 2 and will only sell a 16GB and a 32GB to the market. However, Google Nexus 7 2 owners may have a problem with two storage variants, especially keeping those HD videos on the tablet; a 64GB variant would be nice to have.

Level-Up Camera

Expect a 5-megapixel camera on the Nexus 7 2 which allow users to capture images using the tablet. The front-facing camera will have the same 1.2MP lens which is commonly used for video calls and self-image capturing.

Lighter and Smaller

The overall dimension of Nexus 7 2 has also changed and it is lighter and smaller compared to Nexus 7. It is almost 2mm thinner than the 10.56mm of the original Nexus 7 with smaller display bezel. In terms of weight, 50 grammes has been trimmed off for lighter feeling of Nexus 7 2.

Operating System

The ndroid 4.3 Jelly Bean is out and Nexus 7 2 will run this latest version right out of the box. Nexus 7 2 will have all-new features from Android 4.3 such as Bluetooth Smart, OpenGL ES 3.0 for 3D graphics, new DRM APIs for 1080p HD video streaming and better multi-user support.

Better Battery Life

Google claims that Nexus 7 2 can squeeze extra hours of usage from a single charge and can perform HD video playback for up to nine hours and Web browsing for up to ten hours. Expect Android 4.3 Jelly Bean battery improvements as well to kick in for Nexus 7 2.

Connectivity Variants

Nexus 7 2 will have two variants in terms of connectivity. Both models feature Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, HDMI and NFC, but the top model supports 4G LTE while the later one use 3G connection only.

Price and Release Date

Nexus tablets are not as expensive as with other brands, and it may start at $229 for the 16GB model, $30 higher than Nexus 7 and $269 for 32GB Wi-Fi. The 4G LTE 32GB model will have a starting price of $349 in the United States.

According to sources, the Nexus 7 2 will be released to online stores and retailers on July 30, 2013. Customers may purchase the device through Google Play Store, Best Buy and other selected U.S. retailers. Other territories including the United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Japan, France, Spain, Canada and Australia will receive the next-generation Google 7 in later weeks.
