Nexus 10 2: Google To Push Back Launch to 2014? Will 10inch tablet Line be Phased Out?
The Google Nexus 10 2 is set for release in 2014 despite the holiday season. As reported, there's still no signs of its release before the end 2013. The latest rumor comes from Las Vegas Guardian Express that said the release is likely pushed to 2014, if it even happens. There have been rumors circulating that there might not be a second gen tablet and Google may simply be working on a Nexus 8.
The Christmas shopping season is already in its full swing and Google still hasn't released the Nexus 10 2 on Black Friday or Cyber Monday 2013. The company is expected to launch the tablet in time to compete with its rivals: Apple and Samsung.
The rumored second gen 10-inch Nexus tablet is also scrapped when reports came out saying Google is working on an 8-inch tablet. If that's true, the new 8-inch gadget will be in line with the popular Nexus 7, both geared to compete with the smaller iPad Mini. Google must have found that smaller tablets sell better and run Android OS more efficiently that's why discontinuation of larger variants has been an option.
Android Origin also reported that Nexus 10 will be discontinued after stocks are sold out. The 16 GB version is already out of stock on the Google Play Store while the 32 GB variant is expected to be sold out soon.
The Nexus 10 2 is rumored to have a 10-inch 1650 x 1600 display with Gorilla Glass, quadcore SnapDragon 800 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 8 MP camera, 9500 mAh battery and a lighter, thinner design. Google launched its Android 4.4 KitKat update for Nexus devices but there is no Nexus 10 update, leaving users wondering what to make of their tablet.
If the rumors about the Nexus 10 2 are true, the specs have not changed. The big difference will come in the OS, which is speculated to be the Android 4.4 KitKat like the Nexus 5. Asus is rumored to be the maker of the tablet, which screens resolution and RAM is supposed to be getting upgrades.
2013 has been a year for Google, which released the Nexus 5 and nexus 7. After the release of 7 2, the 10 2 looks like the most possible next step but until now, fans are still eagerly waiting for confirmation on the device and its release.
