The Veterans Day is an official holiday in the U.S., which is always celebrated on Nov 11. It honours the people who have served the armed forces. The NFL and the NFL Players Association have always honoured the veterans as well as the active members of the military with its Salute to Service Campaign.
For this season, NFL will donate $100, for every point scored during the league's games designated for the campaign, to its non-profit military partners, namely, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), Pat Tillman Foundation, and United Service Organization (USO).
The campaign started during the match between San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chief. Throughout the entire month of November, NFL teams will assign one home game to give honours to the military. It will be exciting because the stadium will be designed with great decorations that pertain to the campaign, which include camouflage ribbon decals on pylon, wall banners and more.
Even the NFL players will wear new uniforms in line with the theme of the campaign. It will include sweatshirts, gloves, hats and captains' patches. They will also make sure of Gatorade towels in camouflage theme on the sidelines.
All the merchandise worn during the campaign will be sold in an auction on the official Web site of NFL. All the proceeds will then be donated to the league's non-profit military partners.
The Salute to Service Campaign is an annual tradition of the premier football league, and it is expected that the NFL will keep on honouring the veterans and the active members of military as long as it can.
