NFL Monday Night Football Recap: Chicago Bears 27, New York Jets 19
Chicago Bears quarterback completed two touchdown passes to lead the his team struggling with injuries past the New York Jets, 27-19 on the road in a Monday Night Football (MNF) in Week 3 of the 2014 National Football League (NFL) regular season.
Cutler, who was sacked four times, was 23-of-38 for 225 passing yards to lead Chicago to a 2-1 record in the season. N.Y. counterpart Geno Smith had 316 passing yards but was intercepted twice.
Brandon Marshall was held to one catch as he was battling an ankle injury but wide receiver Alshon Jeffery stepped up with 105 yards on 8 receptions. Two other Chicago WRs-- Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte combined for 97 yards as the Bears gave the Jets their first home loss of the season and first back-to-back defeats.
Chicago led 14-0 to start the game but the Jets finished the first half strong to cut the lead down to 4 points at the break, 17-14.
The Jets will try to bounce back at home against the Detroit Lions in Week 4 while the Bears will aim for a third consecutive victory versus the Green Bay Packers also at home.
