The Minnesota Viking fired Leslie Frazier from his head coaching duty after a 5-10-1 season, the team announced on Monday.

"We have tremendous respect and appreciation for Leslie and what he has done for the Minnesota Vikings," owner Zygi Wilf said in a statement distributed by the team via Real GM.

"He stepped in and established a strong positive culture here, and he has been the consummate professional as our head coach and in this community. Making this change is difficult but what we determined is best for the organization."

Frazier was relieved from his duty, just a year after steering the Vikings to a 10-6 record and a surprising playoff stint in 2012.

Without a solid quarterback and cats on the defensive frontline, the Vikings faltered to perform well on the field this season. Denver Broncos coordinators Adam Gase and Jack Del Rio are the frontrunner for the Vikings vacant head coaching job.
