Even as 8-point underdogs the San Diego Chargers know they have a shot at winning against the mighty Denver Broncos.

The Chargers are peaking at the right time wining five in a row entering their divisional playoff match-up with the Broncos, whom they beat 27-to-20 on December 12. San Diego is also coming off a wildcard upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals, 27-to-20.

Meanwhile, Denver has been on cruise mode at the tail end of the regular season. After the loss to San Diego in Week 15, they had easy wins over Houston and Oakland, which was enough for them to win the AFC West and gain the playoffs first round bye.

Behind veteran Peyton Manning, the Broncos rank first in the league in passing yards per game (340.3) and in points per game (37.9), the highest by any team in the Super Bowl era. The 37-year-old quarterback established new NFL single-season records for total passing yards (5,477) and touchdowns (55).

With Manning an obvious dangerous threat on offense, the Chargers will rely on their running game to keep the star QB off the field. In the win versus the Bengals, San Diego ran for 196 yards—a season-high.

Complementing their good running game is a good passing offense: they are fourth overall in passing yards (270.5) during the regular season.
