No matter how strong the World Wide Web campaigned for Leonardo DiCaprio to get the Oscar 2014 for the best actor, he lost it again. This time DiCaprio lost it to Matthew McConaughey who won it for ‎Dallas Buyers Club. One may wonder what will get him an Oscar since he, being arguably one of the best actors of his time, is yet to win an Oscar.

When Jennifer Lawrence paused to announce the name for the Best Actor Oscar, all the DiCaprians held their breath for one more year. However, it all went in vain as the name JLaw declared was not the one they were waiting for. While Mcconaughey received a standing ovation, one may wonder what went through the mind of DiCaprio, often touted as the "last real movie star" who had repeatedly been a part of Oscar-winning movies for the last 20 years.

DiCaprio declared earlier that he appreciated his fans cheering for him to get the Oscars. However, he does his job of acting simply because he loves it, not for prizes; he said. Los Angeles Times earlier gave its opinion what DiCaprio did not "need" a win for his performance in The Wolf of Wall Street even though many believe he definitely deserved to. DiCaprio was nominated twice for the Oscar 2014. The other nomination was as producer for The Great Gatsby. LA Times said that DiCaprio did not need an Oscar to prove his potential as he had "nothing left to prove".

DiCaprio has probably not left any genre to venture into in his career so far. He excelled in romance in Titanic. We saw his criminal instincts in Catch Me If You Can. His involvement in the psychological drama Inception made it a blockbuster. The abused stepson in This Boy's Life became a pyromaniac in Marvin's Room and an undercover cop in The Departed. He dealt with a broken matrimony in Revolutionary Road. Most of these movies have been Oscar-magnets. DiCaprio, on the other hand, remains the nice guy who always ends up being the second.
