Nickelodeon will hold its first-ever Kids' Choice Sports Awards on July 17. Some of the biggest names in the sporting world such as Tom Brady, Maria Sharapova, Carmelo Anthony, Serena Williams, and Cristiano Ronaldo are amongst the nominees for the award show. Nickelodeon is certainly getting ready to dump its trademark green slime on sports celebrities too.

"We're bringing you a brand new Nickelodeon award show that lets you pick the biggest superstars in sports," written on Nick's official Web site.

"There will be sweat. There will be slime. And there will be tons of all star athletes."

The award show has several categories ranging from crazy fun to serious ones. Of course, the typical "Best Male Athlete," "Best Female Athlete," and "Favourite Newcomer" are included, but off-the-wall awards such as "Don't Try This At Home," "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Party Like a Sports Star," "King and Queen of Swag," and "Biggest Cannon" awards are going to be given as well.

Retired American football defensive end Michael Strahan will serve as the host and executive producer of Kids' Choice Sports Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "It is a real honour to be the inaugural host of the Kids' Choice Sports Awards," Strahan said. "As an athlete and as a father to four kids who grew up with Nickelodeon, I know firsthand what an important role sports plays in kids' lives." Strahan said that the upcoming sports awards will be a "kids' Super Bowl-sized event" just simply because of the fact that the best of the best in the sporting world will be there.

"It will have the best athletes, the best entertainment, the most fun, of course, the best slimings the world of sports has ever seen for the whole family to watch together.
